The procedure is done in-office with local anesthetic ("novocaine"), and is not difficult or painful. Significant post-operative pain is rare; you can go to work the next day. The implant takes six months to heal, i.e. fix itself into the jawbone.  For visible areas a replacement removable denture is worn during the six month healing period for esthetics. After healing, porcelain teeth are designed and attached to the implants. The entire procedure thus takes 8 or 9 months start-to-finish. It is a virtual certainty that the implant will last a lifetime.

 

 We have never had a significant complication since introducing implants to our office in 1992. Never has a patient even experienced temporary numbness after the procedure, a common complication.
